A Man Allegedly Held a Teenager Captive for Four Years. The FBI Just Seized His Devices.

By Alex Morgan. Aug 4, 2026

A teenager who vanished from Milwaukee at age 15 was found nearly four years later inside a Virginia home. The discovery led investigators to Owen Lars Anderson and, after a search of his electronics, 55 additional criminal charges.

She Was 15 When He Allegedly Lured Her From Milwaukee

The girl, whose name has not been released, was 15 when she disappeared from Milwaukee. Blacksburg police said officers first encountered her during a domestic-disturbance response and later learned she had been reported missing. When investigators re-interviewed her, she warned them that Anderson was armed and could retaliate.

55 New Charges Filed July 28 - and FBI Taking Over the Devices

Police used a tactical team to arrest Anderson at his Blacksburg home. Officers said he had two loaded handguns, 14 spare magazines, multiple knives, and OC spray. A search of the home produced a large amount of digital evidence, leading to 55 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material in Montgomery County.

The FBI has taken over much of the digital evidence because of its scope and size. Federal charges are possible, and local officials said the Montgomery County charges could eventually be absorbed into a federal case.

A Multi-State Case With Federal Investigators

Anderson faces the new Virginia charges while the underlying kidnapping allegation remains active. Blacksburg police said investigators from Milwaukee, Virginia, and the FBI are working together as they review the digital evidence.

Blacksburg Police Chief John Clair described the investigation as large and complex. The department’s Internet Crimes Against Children investigator is working with the FBI on the continuing review.

She Is No Longer in His Custody

The teenager is no longer in Anderson’s custody. Her current condition and location have not been disclosed. Anderson was arraigned on the 55 new counts, and the broader investigation remains active.
