New Murder Charge Nearly a Year After Death
Nearly a year after her daughter was found dead, a High Point mother faces a first-degree murder charge. Police announced the new accusation against Kymberli Tiesha Bowden on October 8, following a medical examiner’s review.
The 13-year-old girl was found during a welfare check October 13, 2025, at a High Point, North Carolina, home. Officers also found a teenage boy there; neither child’s name is included here.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner classified the girl’s death as homicide. Police said the autopsy identified pneumonia and severe lack of nourishment in the setting of caregiver neglect.
Earlier Charges Concerned Care of Both Children
Detectives arrested Bowden October 30, 2025, on two counts of felony child abuse and concealment of death. A $1 million bond was set at that stage.
FOX8 reported that arrest warrants alleged a failure to provide the girl adequate food and medical care. The earlier allegations also concerned living conditions and care provided to the boy.
Mother Remains Jailed Without Bond
Police said Bowden, 45, was already in Guilford County Jail when detectives filed the murder charge October 8. Their announcement said she remained jailed without bond.
The medical classification of homicide does not determine criminal responsibility. The murder and earlier abuse allegations remain accusations awaiting resolution in court.
